Cartooning Workshop and Residencies:
Joe Wos is a cartooning instructor with more than 10 years of experience, he has the distinction of being the first resident cartoonist of the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, Calif. His cartooning program emphasizes the creativity of the individual. Students learn the elements of cartoon illustration through props, costume, setting, character development, relationships, emotion and plot. Joe's experience as a cartoonist and storyteller enables him to convey the importance of visual storytelling in art. This program can be geared to any age group from first grade to the college level. Available as 45 minute or 1 hour workshops and full day residencies.
Storyteller Joe Wos leads students on a creative journey through the art of visual storytelling. Through folktales and original stories, students will explore the elements for effective storytelling. Students are encouraged to create stories from personal experiences and verbally illustrate abstract concepts. Stories from cultures around the world are examined, as well as popular fairy tales and classics. This program can be geared to any age group from third grade to the Adult level. This program has been offered at The Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, The Pittsburgh Children's Museum, The Carnegie Science Center, Point Park College, and the University of Pittsburgh. Available as 45 minute - 2 hour workshops as well as extended residencies.
